    Providing best level of comfort, speed and safety - ThyssenKrupp Elevator Qatar

Doha International Airport has been the focus of a comprehensive upgrade project, which entailed extension works of the existing terminal as well as the build up of a dedicated terminal for first and business class. The upgrade project featured alongside innovative and premium facilities, the most advanced vertical transportation solutions and products from ThyssenKrupp Elevator. The escalators used in DIA have an inclination degree from 27.3 ° to 35 °. The elevators’ models were the following: MRL elevator with special cabin design and panoramic design; MRL elevator that can have a minimum pit of 400 mm; and a hydraulic solution for the In- Flight catering building.

Cavotec acquires Meyerinck to expand solutions portfolio

Cavotec MSL has announced the acquisition of the Meyerinck Group, a Germany-based international refuelling and industrial loading systems.  The acquisition takes effect from 1 November 2008. Meyerinck has been in the market for 40 years, and has designed and manufactured some of the most advanced refuelling and industrial loading systems, transporting aircraft fuel and a variety of other chemical liquids, for the most demanding customers.  The company’s solutions have assisted scores of clients in satisfying their refuelling requirements and overcoming the most challenging situations to meet the strictest military and commercial standards. Furthermore, Meyerinck has had significant involvement in the chemical and petro-chemical industries.  The group has provided systems to customers such as Bayer, Linde, and BP, to support loading and unloading of a wide range of liquid media.

Gunnebo wins order to supply ImmSec to Bahrain International Airport

Gunnebo security group has signed an order to supply high security immigration gates, the ImmSec, at the Bahrain International Airport. ImmSec is a highly secure and efficient control system that permits only one person at a time to pass through the gate. The initial order is for four trial-lanes of ImmSec into which smart identification card, fingerprint biometric reader and two LCD-monitors will be integrated. Furthermore, Gunnebo´s unique system for single person and left items detection, TDAR, will be integrated. The order was received in cooperation with Securicore, Gunnebo´s local partner in Bahrain. The detection system identifies single and multiple configurations of people. Luggage, infants and children are also detected by the system. The integrated overhead detection system verifies single person occupancy and persons fraudulently attempting to violate immigration security protocols.

Finmeccanica and Mubadala create industrial partnership

Finmeccanica, the Italian aerospace company, and Mubadala Development Company (Mubadala), an Abu Dhabi-based business development and investment company, announced an agreement for a hi-tech industrial partnership. The Italian company will partner with Mubadala to manufacture aerospace composite components for civil aircrafts at the recently announced Abu Dhabi-based composites plant. Alenia Aeronautica, a subsidiary of Finmeccanica, will provide technology, technical assistance and specialized training as well as transfer composite aerostructure manufacturing work to the new composites plant. Alenia Aeronautica will also provide support to develop the manufacturing processes that are needed for international industrial certifications. Activities will begin this year and are expected to reach capacity by 2011.

       SNC-Lavalin awarded contract to build new airport in Libya

SNC-Lavalin recently announced it has been awarded a contract for the procurement and construction of a Greenfield airport at Benghazi, Libya. The contract for Benina International Airport is valued at an estimated CAN$500 million and includes construction of a new international terminal, runway and apron. The new airport is part of an extensive new infrastructure program being undertaken by the government of Libya throughout the country. The project is expected to be completed in 2010, and the airport will welcome five million passengers per year. SNC-Lavalin’s expertise in airports covers the full range of airport project development services and construction with project experience in Canada and worldwide.

Shell Aviation launches AeroJet fuel

Shell Aviation, a division of Shell Markets Middle East, has announced the launch of a new fuel service in the Middle East, dubbed AeroJet fuel. This premium aviation fuel service was introduced at the Middle East Business Aviation event in Dubai, UAE. Shell AeroJet minimises or eliminates problems previously associated with the use of Jet A1 in business jets, turbo-prop aircrafts and helicopters. The fuel service incorporates anti-fungal, anti-icing and anti-static qualities that tailor to the needs of aircrafts flying in different regions, weather conditions and heights. AeroJet contains an active biocide/fungicide additive that prevents growth of bacteria and fungi in a tank which is caused by the formation of water

Ekin Proje provides first class mechanical works at NDIA

Ekin Proje as an MEP contractor providing facility in design ,construction and management for over 25 years, was awarded the contract  at New Doha International Airport project in Doha, Qatar. The contract NDIA CP 18 Phase 1 was awarded in 2006 and Phase 2 in 2007 as this was the company’s 15th international airport project. Currently, Ekin Proje is on track, thanks to its A-Class MEP team with an experience in airport construction worldwide. Ekin Proje’s cooperation with several world-class contractors in the past, particularly with airport operator TAV, has created a high level of knowledge and experience in airport construction. The director further mentions about his company’s works at Palm Dubai and Qatar QECCC projects which are also well known jobs in the region just like the NDIA. He adds that they have the excitement of being involved in the Convention Center project which shall host the 2011 World Petrol Congress.

Jewers Doors celebrates 25 years

On 7 November 2008, Jewers Doors Limited celebrates 25 years in business. The company was started in 1983 by Nigel Jewers and is still family owned. Nigel's three sons are directors in the business. Jewers Doors designs, manufactures and installs aircraft hangar doors under its Esavian trade name; industrial doors under the Phoenix brand. From modest beginnings 25 years ago, Jewers Doors now undertakes contracts throughout the world for governments, armed forces and private companies. In recent years, Jewers Doors has installed 23 sets of Esavian doors in hangars for the new A380 aircraft. Working closely with Baotang Door of China, Jewers Doors recently completed a sliding hangar door for Ameco Beijing measuring 350 m wide by 27 m high – the largest in Asia. The company is currently working on similar projects in Qatar and Kuwait.
